Ghaziabad
Location:
National Capital Region ( NCR).
It is located on the Grand Trunk (GT) Road 19 km east of New Delhi.
Modern Ghaziabad is a rapidly developing industrial town. Many
workers commute daily to New Delhi, where goods produced in
Ghaziabad are also marketed.
City History
Salawat Jung and named Ghaziuddinnagar. But its history goes
further back to the time the sage Vishravamuni was said to reside
near here. Present-day Ghaziabad was established in 1976. This
rapidly developing town is a part of the upper Ganges plain,
historically known as the land east of the Sapta Sindu (seven
rivers). Garhmukteshwar is one of the major tourist places of the
area.

Manufacturing and processing industries include computer assembly,
electroplating,vegetable oil, tapestries, bicycles, railway
coaches,diesel engines, heavy chains, brass brackets, glassware,
pottery, paint and varnish, lanterns, and typewriter ribbons. There
are three degree-granting colleges, affiliated with Meerut
University. Ghaziabad district was established in 1976. The region
consists of a flat plain traversed by perennial streams.
